As high-profile cyber-attacks continue to attract significant and unwanted media attention, Bitz ‘n’ PC’z Limited has successfully received its Cyber Essentials accreditation.
The Government-backed scheme ensures an organisation has the security measures needed to identify and prevent incoming attacks, before they cause serious disruption and damage.
With this certification, clients can rest assured that sensitive data is safe and secure and that the business has a clear understanding of their existing cyber security level.
Kevin Walker, director at Bitz ‘n’ PC’z Ltd commented:
“As a business, we pride ourselves on being extremely cyber secure, ensuring the information and data we access is properly protected and out of reach of would-be hackers.
As our business provides IT Support services to schools and Multi-Academy Trusts (MATs), Cyber Essentials is very important to us, as it shows our schools, MATs and the local authority that we take cyber security issues very seriously. It also demonstrates that we can be trusted to keep sensitive data information safe.”
We are very proud to display this badge on our website!

The accreditation was audited by a third-party assessor and reassures our clients that the necessary security measures are in place and that they are effective in preventing attacks.”
Cyber Essentials has 5 key criteria:
Use a firewall to secure your Internet connection
Cyber Essentials requires all devices that are connected to the internet to be protected with a firewall.
Use secure settings for your devices and software
Changing the default usernames and passwords on your routers, switches and firewalls will make it harder for hackers to break into your systems.
Control who has access to your data and services
Users should only access the data they really need with correct procedures to
deal with admin privileges.
Protect yourself from viruses and other malware
Cyber essentials checks that you have the appropriate antivirus protection in place to stop viruses, malware and other
threats to your business.
Keep your devices and software up to date
It is crucial to have your devices updated to ensure vulnerabilities can be found and remediated.
Cyber Essentials is a UK government information/data assurance scheme operated by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) that encourages organisations to adopt good practices surrounding data security. Cyber Essentials was designed by the government in 2014 primarily for small to medium-sized businesses to make it easier for them to protect against common cyber threats.
